58th Avenue Missionary Baptist Church is NOT a non-denominational church!
We are a local, visible body of scripturally baptized believers in covenant relationship seeking to carry out the Great Commission as commanded by our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Our beliefs and convictions separate us from others and make us WHO we are. We are committed to the “Truths” passed down through the ages by other committed and unapologetic followers of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
We are Missionary Baptists. We believe in missions and that the Lord’s true churches must be mission minded. The job of the Lord’s churches is to execute the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20) and that is done (in part) through missions.
The 3 Tenets of the Great Commission are:
1. Go make disciples (teach or preach the gospel).
2. Baptize those new disciples.
3. Teach the disciples to observe all commandments of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We are Independent and Autonomous. What we mean by independent and autonomous is that the church is self-governing and self-propagating and is not under the control and direction of the pope, man-made organizations, mission boards and conventions. (Ephesians 1:21-23). It is the church that sends out missionaries. (Acts 13:1-3) We are independent but not independent from Christ and His words; rather, we are dependent upon Him and His words. (John 15).
We are a Missionary Baptist Church that chooses to associate with the churches of the American Baptist Association and have deep roots and are committed to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 1:3)
We use the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible and would recommend its use by all.
